How it works
How to protect pdf
Upload the PDF
You will add a document you own or are authorized to modify.
Set the password and permissions
An open password will be required to view the file, and a separate owner password will control printing, copying, and editing.
Download the protected file
The encrypted PDF will be written as a new document, and you pass the password on by a separate channel.
Why Make Creati
Built to keep document work clear
One workspace for the file, the change, and the finished result — with the next step always visible.
Service agreement
Page 1 of 3 · editing textEncryption, not a warning label
The file contents will be encrypted, so the password is needed before a reader can render a single page.
Two levels of control
One password to open the document, and another to decide what a reader may print, copy, or edit.
Protection travels with the file
The password stays with the PDF wherever it is stored or forwarded, unlike a share link that only guards one location.
What you can expect
Clear commitments, not claims
Your files stay yours
Documents are scoped to your account and tied to the project that created them. You choose when a file is shared or removed.
Costs shown before you pay
Self-serve work and quoted work are separated clearly. You see what a request costs before anything is charged.
Honest about limits
We say what a tool does and does not do. Make Creati is for documents you own or are authorized to modify.
Draft content notice. A competitor page would show customer testimonials here. Make Creati has no published reviews yet, so this section states verifiable commitments instead. Swap it for real, attributed reviews once they exist — see docs/PAGE-SPECS.md.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the two passwords?
The open password is needed to view the document. The owner password controls permissions such as printing and copying, and it is what allows those settings to be changed later.
How strong will the encryption be?
AES 256-bit is planned, which is the current encryption standard in the PDF specification.
What happens if I forget the password?
The file cannot be opened without it. Store the password in a password manager and keep an unprotected copy somewhere safe.
Can I stop someone from printing the file?
Permission flags request that behavior and mainstream readers honor them, but a permission flag is weaker protection than the open password.
Should I email the password with the file?
Send it by a different channel, such as a phone call or a message. A password in the same email as the document adds very little.
Which documents may I protect?
Apply protection to documents you own or are authorized to handle, and follow any rules the document owner has already set.
